Podcast Reviews: Mindful Mentoring with Tom Martin

I just finished listening to Episode 23 of Mindful Mentoring with Tom Martin. Having the opportunity to listen to Guest Speaker/COMM expert, Marta Ronquillo Newhart speak on the importance of the Latino community in our country today was very eye opening for me. I truly didn’t understand the complex nature of how this particular community is perceived in the workplace and in their regular lives daily.

I am incredibly inspired following along the winding path that Ms. Ronquillo Newhart has experienced throughout her career starting on the business side at Boeing and finding her way to becoming the CCO of Westinghouse as well as a board member and senior advisor. I learned a lot from this episode, especially about the unique differences between mentorship and sponsorship.

An experienced mentor will have had the opportunity to be both a Mentee and a Mentor numerous times throughout their career. One of my biggest takeaways is that that no matter what part of your career you’re currently at, you should continue to seek out mentors to help you navigate the many various challenges that we encounter in our work. 

Through Mentorship, Sponsorship and Allyship we can all continue to grow as effective communicators in the workplace and in our personal lives. 🌎
